The Big Ten continues to dodge disappointment.
Two top five teams fell during Week 11’s action as the Georgia Bulldogs and Miami Hurricanes fell. Both teams saw their College Football Playoff hopes take major hits, especially as teams such as the Oregon Ducks and Ohio State Buckeyes keep winning.
Oregon, Ohio State, and the Penn State Nittany Lions all occupy top five spots in the latest LBM Coaches poll. Add the Indiana Hoosiers at No. 6 and it gives the Big Ten four of the top six teams. That will change at the very least after the Buckeyes and Hoosiers play in a couple weeks, but it’s a great sign for the top of the conference.
The rest is wild. There’s a number of good teams such as the Illinois Fighting Illini and Iowa Hawkeyes, but the flaws that the next tier of teams possess below the aforementioned top four is numerous and why all but one team is still playing for bowl eligibility.
It also leads to a mess in the power rankings. Let’s see how the conference lines up ahead of Week 12’s action.
