Week 12 wasn’t nearly as eventful as the upset-heavy Week 11, but we saw a few results that will surely shake up the College Football Playoff race with just two weeks left in the 2024 regular season. Now, we have an updated look at the US LBM Coaches Poll.
We did see a pair of top-10 teams go down, however. Tennessee — previously ranked No. 4 — fell on the road by 14 points to Georgia. The Bulldogs keep their College Football Playoff hopes alive at 8-2, while the Volunteers fall seven spots to No. 11 and now have a practically non-existent margin for error entering the final two weeks.
Matching Tennessee for the biggest faller this week is BYU, which previously ranked No. 8, also fell seven spots out of the top 10 to No. 15 after dropping its first game of the year against Kansas. The Big 12 race now seems to be pretty wide open with Colorado up to No. 18 and Arizona State entering the field at No. 22.
The top three remains unchanged with Oregon leading the way after a close call with Wisconsin followed by Ohio State and Texas, who handled business against Northwestern and Arkansas, respectively. Penn State moves up to No. 4 after a blowout win over Purdue, while Indiana remains in the top five as the undefeated Hoosiers were idle this week ahead of a massive game against the Buckeyes.
