The 2024 Olympic Games get started on Friday, and it’s clear basketball is going to be a huge focal point of this year’s event.
Team USA is the heavy favorite, despite struggling in exhibition play with narrow wins over Canada, Germany, and South Sudan.
Part of the challenge is the growth around the world, with many other countries represented by college and NBA talent – a big change from the Dream Team days of 1992.
It also means some programs are well represented in the games, including the Kentucky Wildcats who have a whopping eight alumni set to participate this year. That includes three for Team USA, a trio for Canada, and one women’s basketball player for the USA 3×3 team as well.
