The Georgia Bulldogs took down the Texas Longhorns in overtime of an SEC Championship Game that will live on for a long time.

While they did get a bye and were crowned champions, it may have come at a steep price and cost to pay.

Georgia’s starting quarterback Carson Beck was injured in the game and reports are that he is expected to miss the Sugar Bowl in the second round of the College Football Playoff.

Beck was injured on the final play of the first half when he wound up to unleash a Hail Mary attempt but was struck in the elbow by a Longhorns defender as he tried to throw the ball.

In Beck’s absence, Georgia turned to backup quarterback Gunner Stockton. In relief duty, he completed 12-16 passes for 71 yards but did turn the ball over once via interception.

If Carson Beck can’t go, Stockton will get the nod. The 6-foot-1 sophomore and product of Rabun County High School and Tiger, Georgia will take on the winner of No. 7 Notre Dame and No. 10 Indiana, who go at it in South Bend in the first round of the College Football Playoff.

Stockton was a four-star recruit coming out of high school and the No. 7 rated quarterback in the class of 2022, per 247Sports.
