Nebraska suffered its third straight loss on Saturday, falling to 5-4 with a loss at home to a UCLA team that has struggled significantly in its first season in the Big Ten. And to make things even worse, quarterback Dylan Raiola suffered an injury late in the game.
With 5:48 left in the game, Raiola took a hard hit on a second and goal play while scrambling to the three-yard line. He limped off the field, and though he briefly attempted to reenter, he went down again and had to be helped off. He did not return to the game.
It’s been a rough month for the Cornhuskers, which started the season 5-1 and seemed to be well-positioned to reach a bowl game for the first time since 2016. Now, after three-straight losses and with a remaining schedule that features games at USC, at home against Wisconsin and at Iowa, that is very much in question.
Raiola’s status will certainly be worth watching during the week ahead of Week 11’s game against the Trojans in Los Angeles.
