The 2024-25 college football regular ended less than 24 hours ago and we have begun the annual quarterback carousel that is the NCAA Transfer Portal.
Virginia Cavaliers quarterback Anthony Colandrea has announced that he is hitting the transfer portal and is searching for a new home next year.
Colandrea, who just finished his sophomore year, is likely to be an attractive portal addition for teams as he is a talented athlete, although still a bit raw and underdeveloped.
This last year at Virginia, Colandrea completed 61.9% of his passes for 2,125 yards. He struggled with interceptions as he turned it over 11 times to just 13 touchdowns.
He threw for 4,083 yards and 26 touchdowns to 20 interceptions during his time at Virginia.
What makes Colandrea attractive is his ability to run the ball when needed. While he may not be known for his elusiveness, he did run for 502 yards and two touchdowns over the last two seasons. It is just enough to keep defenses honest.
Virginia finished this year 5-7 overall which is an improvement from Colandrea’s 3-9 campaign as a rookie.
Anthony Colandrea was a three-star recruit coming out of Lakewood High School in St. Petersburg, Florida, per 247Sports. He was the No. 72-rated quarterback in the class of 2023.
Colandrea received FBS offers from Middle Tennessee, Arkansas State, Bowling Green, Buffalo, Florida Atlantic, Georgia State, Hawaii, Jacksonville State, Kentucky, Troy, USF, Utah State and Western Kentucky during high school.
