Week 3 of the 2024 college football season featured quite a few ACC teams on a bye, although the games we did get gave fans a great picture of who the contenders and pretenders are with conference play around the corner.
Mario Cristobal and Miami continue to look dominant in the early part of the season, with quarterback Cam Ward emerging as a legitimate Heisman Trophy candidate after a five touchdown performance against Ball State. The ‘Canes are ahead of Clemson and Louisville right now, although much will be learned about these teams once the real conference slate gets underway.
Meanwhile, Florida State dropped yet another winnable game, losing to G5 power Memphis on Saturday to move to 0-3 – becoming the first preseason Top 10 team to do so against all unranked opponents.
Week 4 promises more exciting matchups which will continue to shape the power rankings and determine who will represent this conference in the 12-team College Football Playoffs at the end of the year.
